2011 Annual Meeting
Heritage Preservation's 2011 Annual Meeting was held on Wednesday, June 1, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Members, donors, and friends gathered to congratulate recent award winners, hear program updates, and welcome the newest members to the Board of Directors.

The Meeting opened with Mervin Richard, Heritage Preservation's Chairman of the Board, announcing that the annual AIC/Heritage Preservation joint award is being renamed in honor of the late Ross Merrill, former Chairman of Heritage Preservation and the National Gallery's former Chief of Conservation. The Award will now be known as the AIC/Heritage Preservation Ross Merrill Award for Outstanding Commitment to the Preservation and Care of Collections. Larry Reger, President of Heritage Preservation, announced that the 2011 recipient is the Maymont Foundation in Richmond, Virginia, for its dedication to and demonstration of excellence in the practice of conservation and collections care.
Reger and Nicholas Dorman, Chief Conservator at the Seattle Art Museum, also honored Dr. Joyce Hill Stoner, the Edward F. and Elizabeth Goodman Rosenberg Professor of Material Culture Studies, Department of Art Conservation, at the University of Delaware, as the recipient of the 2011 College Art Association/Heritage Preservation Award for Distinction in Scholarship and Conservation for her contributions to enhancing the understanding of art through the application of knowledge and experience in conservation, art history, and art.
During his President's Address, Reger announced two new grants to Heritage Preservation. The IMLS Laura Bush 21st Century Librarians program has awarded $407,023 to produce series of webinars and support an online community on collections care in 2012 and 2013, and the National Endowment for the Arts has awarded $45,000 to Rescue Public Murals to identify and promote best practices for creating and maintaining outdoor murals.
The Annual Meeting also included presentations to update attendees on the happenings of Heritage Preservation's many programs, including :

The introduction of the Connecting to Collections Online Community which launched on June 2, 2011,

The announcement of the 101 museums awarded a 2011 Conservation Assessment Program grant, and

The news that BELFOR is providing $25,000 to be the sponsor of the next edition of the Emergency Response and Salvage Wheel.
The 2011 Annual Meeting also marked the conclusion of the terms for two of Heritage Preservation's esteemed Board members. Doris Hamburg, Director of Preservation Programs at the National Archives and Records Administration, and Sherelyn Ogden, Head of Conservation at the Minnesota Historical Society, both completed their terms this past spring. Barbara Ramsay, a member of the Nominating Committee, announced the recent Board election results and welcomed two new Board Members: Beverly Perkins, Chief Conservator at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center, and Margaret Holben Ellis, Director of the Thaw Conservation Center at the Morgan Library and Museum.
